This site presents the work of Laurence Loewe of Laodicea (LLoL) — a researcher who spent 6+ years on a wide, interdisciplinary, diversity-encouraging (wid-e) research marathon to understand and articulate the innovation algorithms encoded in the biblical book of Revelation for averting existential threats — nuclear war, pandemics, artificial superintelligence. These aren’t inevitable. Revelation offers a choice.

The Jubilee System offers a path forward: cyclical renewal built on ancient wisdom and modern science.

How this research came to be

LLoL’s path to discovering the Jubilee System was highly idiosyncratic, serendipitous, and — by his own account — accidental. Yet in science and mathematics, how something was discovered does not determine its validity. What matters is whether the conclusions can be checked by others who follow the same rules, starting from the same assumptions. That is the beauty of superrational solutions.

The challenge, however, is the discovery’s complexity. Grasping it requires an intense examination of the systemic forces — the “Leviathan” — that drive humanity’s hardest problems. Workable solutions do not fit on a bumper sticker or in any easily readable book. They require careful, extended analyses of causality. That LLoL discovered elegant algorithmic paths through this complexity he attributes to divine providence, not to his own intelligence.

To arrive at these conclusions required LLoL to circumnavigate the conceptual universe in a 6+-year research marathon. Review by others will be faster, but the complexity is not to be underestimated. This is why funding support is essential — to sustain those who commit to the work of fair, rigorous review.

The Laodicea connection

The name “Loewe of Laodicea” is not incidental. Laodicea was the last of seven assemblies to whom Revelation was originally addressed as a letter. Historically, Laodicea was a banking community — and its response (or lack thereof) to Revelation’s message represents one of the great missed opportunities in the history of the text’s reception.

LLoL decided to take personal responsibility for working on restitution — as best he can — for these cataclysmic historic oversights apparently made by the Church of Laodicea. This sense of personal responsibility drove the 6+-year research marathon and continues to drive the work today.

Note

This is because of an unusual historic bottleneck: Reality appears to have entrusted the integration of this vision for a gentle, kind, reasonable re-reading of Revelation to one person. Whether by accident or by providence, that person is LLoL.

From risk assessment to action

LLoL found it an unacceptably high risk that he is currently more likely to die in accidental nuclear winter than in a car crash (see his simulations). So he continued his quest for a solution he deemed workable enough to commit to fully. Dr. Laurence Loewe is a scientist (Google Scholar) who renamed himself Laurence Loewe of Laodicea (LLoL) to take personal responsibility for a 6+-year research marathon that led to the discoveries presented on this site. His background spans evolutionary genetics, systems biology, and computer science — an unusual combination that turned out to be precisely what was needed to recognize the algorithmic structures in Revelation.

The wid-e research approach

wid-e is short for wide interdisciplinary diversity-encouraging — a way of working that deliberately crosses the usual boundaries between fields. Most academic careers reward going narrow: knowing more and more about less and less. The questions this site is concerned with — how whole civilisations drift toward self-destruction, and whether that drift has a common structural cause — do not sit inside any single discipline, so a single-discipline lens is structurally unable to see them whole.

The approach here therefore draws, by necessity, on evolutionary biology and population genetics, computational modelling and programming-language design, systems engineering, economics, history, and the textual traditions of several faiths — not to claim mastery of each, but to look for the patterns that become visible only when these views are held side by side. Breadth is used as a research instrument, not as a substitute for rigour: a structural problem can hide precisely in the gaps between specialties, where no single field is looking. The honest cost of this breadth is that no one person can check it all — which is exactly why the work is published for open, adversarial review rather than asserted, and why this site asks you to help fund the people who would do that checking.

The Great Filter Tribulation

This website aims to inform, help with the review of details, and generally organize whatever is needed to get humanity safely through its Great Filter Tribulation — a combination of the existential Great Filter known in science and the Great Tribulation predicted to be the most distressing time of world history.

LLoL has sustained this research in part through humor — the divine cosmic jokes, as he describes them, that kept his spirits up during a 6+-year marathon focused on how to escape failure in averting existential disasters. This site invites everyone to choose their own adventure, because Revelation offers a choice that allows everyone to embark on their own hero journey, to leave slavery behind in quest for their individualized promised land.
