StayVS — Stabilizing Versioning System#
StayVS is the system used across Balospe.com to track how mature and well-checked any piece of content is. Every page on this site carries a content stability indicator in its footer that tells you at a glance how much confidence to place in what you are reading.
LLoL has been developing and using StayVS internally since about 2017, and it has much matured since. This page here is a brief reminder to say that eventually a more adequate introduction ought to follow here.
In a nutshell, StayVS is a self-stabilizing versioning system designed to end the world’s mis-information problems by fighting time-travling errors in versioning spaces. A self-stabilizing versioning system is essential for self-stabilizing innovation processes. It also turns out that organizing for proper Jubilee-based innovation is as good as impossible without an agreed-upon reliable self-stabilizing versioning system that supports Jubilees natively.
StayVS distinguishes seven stages through their double-letter stability codes to offer transparency at a glance.
As the mathematical theology of the Jubilee system grows in maturity, so must StayVS in order to support the related 7 stages distinguishable in any general innovation system.
Why does this matter?#
This site covers ambitious, interconnected topics. Some pages are well-established; others are early drafts or experimental explorations. StayVS makes this transparent so you can calibrate your reading accordingly:
A page marked MM is a first draft — the idea exists but is untested.
A page marked NN is in death valley — it needs resources to reach viability.
A page marked OO is a minimum viable product — it works, but oddly.
…
A page marked SS has been stabilized through broad global review.
The StayC lifecycle#
StayC (Stability Codes) track a page’s maturity through seven stages:
Code |
Name |
Meaning |
|---|---|---|
MM |
MockupModel |
Idea exists informally as back-of-envelope reasoning or verbal sketch. No formal statement yet. The intuition is present but has not been cast into precise language. |
NN |
NimbleNonfunctional |
The innovation’s death valley: the idea has been stated but does not yet function. It needs feeding — resources, refinement, and iteration — to grow into a minimum viable product (OO). Most innovations die here, not because they are worthless, but because they run out of energy before crossing the valley. NN carries hope of rescue. |
OO |
OperatesOddly |
A minimum viable product exists. Formal statement is present, believed true, but no proof has been attempted. The MVP works, but oddly — much refinement is required. |
PP |
PathProbing |
Formal statement accompanied by a proof or structured argument. A stable core exists, but it has not yet been adversarially tested and may harbor hidden weaknesses. |
QualityQuest |
Subjected to adversarial review. Objections have been raised; some resolved, some remain open. The claim is under active defense, increasingly refined but still fluid. |
|
RR |
ReviewedRelease |
All critical objections resolved. The author judges the claim publication-ready. Remaining objections (if any) are classified as non-critical or as scope limitations. |
SS |
StableSource |
Widely accepted by the relevant community after broad global review and adoption. Multiple independent checks exist. Comparable to an internationally stable standard. |
What Versioned Variant Numbers (VVNs) mean#
You will see VVNs that look like dv_LLoL_OOv2r1p0_2026m03d30 in page footers.
VVN elements are connected by underscores to form a single block to simplify searching.
Here is how to read an example:
dv_— StayVS versioning regime (e.g.dv= developer versioning, the standard case)LLoL— nickname of who made the following maturity assessment_OO— the stability code (StayC) of StayVS measures maturity (e.g. OperatesOddly, see table above)v2r1p0— version 2, revision 1, patch 0_2026m03d30— date of the assessment,
When a page shows dv_Auto_MMv1_... it means the footer was
auto-generated and the author has not yet assessed the content stability.
