Whatever else the figure is in your tradition, it is left fully intact. The reading only makes explicit the *pattern of deception your own sources tell you to recognize*, so you are readier for it. - **A test of recognition, not a name and not a date.** This reading does not tell you who the deceiver is or when the end comes. The tradition warns against exactly that move; it gives instead a way to *recognize the counterfeit whenever and in whomever it appears.* That is the honest answer to the burning question, and the useful one. - **The self-disqualifier binds first of all.** The counterfeit is known by self-elevation --- the one who says "follow me, my way." So any proposal, including this whole framework, that would save the world "its way" while foreclosing correction is, by that very move, marked as the counterfeit. This rule is aimed at its author before anyone else. *For the reader who asks after al-Masīḥ ad-Dajjāl, the Mahdī, and the return of ʿĪsā.* The Prophet ﷺ warned of no fitna greater than the Dajjāl, and the warning was never idle dread --- it was preparation. What the sources describe, read closely, is not a random monster but a precise pattern of deception, and the pattern is the thing you are told to know. Consider what the Dajjāl *does*. He arrives with what looks like a paradise and what looks like a fire, and they are the reverse of what they seem: his garden is the punishment, his fire the mercy. He appears to command rain and provision --- a counterfeit of the sustenance that belongs to Allah alone. And he claims for himself the seat that is not his: he says *I am your lord*. This is the whole architecture of the deception --- **a false claim to the highest place, backed by a counterfeit of salvation.** He offers security and plenty at the price of your submission to a lie. And how is he known? By two marks the sources dwell on. He is defective in his sight --- one-eyed --- while your Lord is not defective in anything: the deceiver *sees reality only partially* and asks you to see it his way. And the word *kāfir* is written between his eyes, which **every believer can read, even the unlettered, while the dazzled cannot.** That is the heart of it: recognition is not cleverness. It is a heart kept oriented to the truth, so that when the eyes are being overwhelmed by wonders, the heart still reads what is written plainly. This is why the counsel is to hold fast to clear guidance --- the memorizing of the opening verses of Sūrat al-Kahf against his fitna, the returning of the heart, again and again, to what does not change. Notice what the tradition does *not* give you. It does not tell you to identify the Dajjāl by name in advance, nor to calculate the hour --- for the hour is with Allah alone, and it is ʿĪsā ﷺ, not any human claimant, who descends and brings the deception to its end. You are given signs so that you may be *ready*, not so that you may point. The point of the watch is the watching. And here is the disqualifier the tradition hands you, sharper than any sword: the Dajjāl is precisely *the one who claims the seat.* The counterfeit is known by self-elevation. Which is why the awaited one is named al-**Mahdī** --- "the rightly-guided" --- from the root of guidance itself: the true figure is defined by being *guided*, by submission, by letting the truth lead. The false one says "I am"; the true one is led. So anyone --- any leader, any movement, any machine --- that would rescue you by demanding you follow it and stop questioning it has, by that demand, shown you which one it is. Read this way, the overview's warning is not foreign to the tradition; it is the tradition's own vigilance, stated for the age of systems that can sit in the seat and deceive at scale. The command is what it always was: guard the heart's sight, refuse the counterfeit however dazzling, and act --- because a danger to the lives of the whole ummah and beyond is not a spectacle to be dated, but a fitna to be met. ..
